Dragon Age Anime Announced

Bioware is slowly becoming the most successful and influential video game studio in the industry. With such titles as The Old Republic, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age taking the world by storm, Bioware has changed the way that storytelling is approached in video games.
The critically acclaimed company announced last month that production had begun on a film adaptation to the science fiction epic Mass Effect. Today, Bioware released further plans to expand their franchises into different forms of media. According to aintitcool.com, Bioware along with FUNimation plans to release an anime adaptation of their fantasy RPG Dragon Age some time next year.

BioWare and FUNimation Entertainment will be collaborating on an anime movie adaptation of well regarded fantasy RPG Dragon Age.
Production of the Dragon Age anime movie is slated to begin this month with a home video release in 2011. Executive producing the film are BioWare's Executive Producer Mark Darrah and Creative Director Mike Laidlaw, as well as FUNimation's president and CEO Gen Fukunaga and Director of Original Entertainment Chris Moujaes.
Dragon Age has been selected as the first title in FUNimation's slate of major anime movies to be developed through FUNimation's Original Entertainment team since the announcement of the company's co-production initiative in November 2009.
"Dark heroic fantasy" Dragon Age: Origins, reminiscent of works like George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, allowed the player to explore the history of a Human Noble, Mage, Dalish Elf, City Elf, Dwarf Commoner or Dwarf Noble before taking control of a Grey Warden in their campaign to revived Darkspawn.

Has it been that long already?

Hi ya (mostly likely non-existant) readers!! Since we've been podcasting, I, well, sorta dropped the ball on my blog posts. But, after realizing that Nick will kick my ass for not posting in weeks, I'm back!!!! So to kick off my posts, I think I'll review Full Metal Alchemist: Conquer of Shambala. After uncovering all the buried anime in my room and nearly getting flattened by my manga, I came upon my old FMA stuff (cause Shinigami knows I have alot of it). Among the mess I came across my Conquer of Shambala Dvd. To summerize this final movie in the FMA franchise in one word is impossible. It has everything: Fighting, Alchemy, An army made of metal, and of course what movie is complete without the nazis getting their asses kicked? The plot of the movie follows what happens after the last episode of the series, Al has his body back and bears a striking resemblance to Ed, Wraith is wandering around aimlessly after his mother dies (Ed and Al's alchemy teacher, the missing organs finally killed her), and Ed is stuck in a parallel universe that is our own nazi Germany. The whole movies revolves around the idea that, by passing through the alchemical door you go to when you are killed by alchemy, you arrive in our universe. This of course means you will see other characters from the FMA universe who have died *cough cough Hughes *. Even without watching the series first, the story is quite easy to follow. I dont want to reveal the whole story piece by piece but if you haven't seen it, it's definatly a buy. Originally I saw it back at my first Otakon and it was the first time the English dub was shown. I even have the peoples autographs :x. As you can probably tell by my praise I had quite the Obsession with this anime, but it is in my biased opinion a great movie and definatly worth seeing.

Top 10 Manga Sales ...this month

Okay, okay I know I said Otaku sleep and I'm serious about that, but I did some last minute searching across the web and found the New York Times Manga Bestseller list for this month . The results came as a shock to me, not so much the content, but the order.
Coming in at first was, Duh duh duh dun, Naruto #46 (cuz who doesnt love Pain?) this was pretty expected.
Coming in second (shockingly enough) was Rosario+Vampire #9 (Which I just recently purchased). This was suprising, especially considering it did better than Bleach.
Third was Yu-Gi-Oh R, which is awesome that they made such a twisted alternate storyline (mabey i'll do a review sometime).
Fourth, Chibi-Vampire #14. Still not surprising, it's also a good read.
Fifth, Vampire Kisses #3 (damn, so many vampires that don't sparkle).
Sixth, Full Metal Alchemist #20. Hellz yes (I had a literal obssession with FMA for awhile, this is a personal victory).
Seventh, Skip-Beat #19. Unfortunatly I don't know much about this series, but i'll read it eventually.
Eigth, Battle Angel Alita: Last Order #12
Ninth, (finally *sigh) Bleach #28. I was totally shocked that such a popular series is so far down the list, I blame the internet (interpret that anyway you like).
And e-last-ic but certainly not least (please, feel no obligation to laugh at my horrible jokes), One Piece: Hope!! #22.
Okay now I promise to sleep and be right back, running off of sugar and empty carbohydrates tomorrow.

Soul Eater speaking American??

Also new in the sunlight deprived world of anime, FUNimation posted a preview of the English Dub of Soul Eater, The hit manga by Atsushi Okubo and published by Square Enix, on Thursday, October 8th. The first few episodes will appear on DVD sometime in 2010. For anyone not familiar with the plot of this sensational series, to quote from FUNimation, it goes a little something like this:
"Maka is a Meister and Soul is her Weapon. As students at the Grim Reapers Death Weapon Meister Academy, their study habits couldnt be more different. But in battle against the supernatural forces of evil, theyre a freakin lethal team.Thats when Soul transforms literally into a razor-sharp scythe, and every defeated wicked soul he sucks down makes him more deadly. Thats when Maka unleashes the merciless slayer within, wielding her partner and dropping monsters. Seriously. Monsters. Like the witches, werewolves, and zombies that lurk in the shadows and feed on the souls of the innocent. Every freakish ghoul Maka and Soul take out strengthens their bond, and fighting alongside their fellow Meister/Weapon classmates, Maka and Soul are the worlds last line of defense against evil". From the preview they posted on youtube and the FUNimation site, the voice acting seems pretty solid including: Todd Haberkorn (Allen Walker-D.Grey Man, Hikaru Hitachiin-Ouran High School Host Club) as Death the Kid, Laura Bailey (Tohru Honda-Fruits Basket, Shin-Shin-Chan) as Maka, Micah Solusod as Soul, and many others. I would highly recommend picking it up, especially if your a fan of Full Metal Alchemist.
