SDCC: Marvel Makes History With Avengers Panel

Marvel has officially won Comic Con with perhaps the most impressive movie panel of all time.
Following the end of the comic book company's panel for the upcoming Thor adaptation, a teaser for the upcoming Avengers film slipped its way onto the massive screen overlooking the audience. As the logo for the film slowly grew on the screen Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury recited the most famous quote in the history of the Avengers: "And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's Mightiest Heroes found themselves united against a common threat. On that day...the Avengers were born."
Following the end of the teaser, Jackson himself stepped onto stage and slowly introduced the entire cast of the film as the joined him on stage: Scarlet Johansen as Black Widow, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and introducing Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. Finally, Robert Downey Jr. himself stepped on stage.
With a triumphant statement of confidence, he welcomed writer and director Joss Whedon himself up. As the the applause of the theater grew to a deafening roar, Whedon and Downey Jr. addressed the issues regarding the ambition of the project. Both assured the crowd of screaming fans that the project was indeed in good hands. And for once in a convention so often filled with cynicism, everyone agreed.

Around the Web: 7-19-10
It's monday again! And this time we have a weird combination. We have breaking meme's, bad singing, and of course a little Samuel L. Jackson. Should be a fun time.
1. You dun Goofed Up (Jess Slaughter Story)
Here we go. What is quickly becoming the latest internet phenomena. While we can still enjoy Mr. Sluaghter's horrible grammar and tirades from this video alone, I know some of you may feel bad for this seemingly traumitized girl. However, there is a long and rather complex backstory behind this internet breakdown. For your convenience I have included Know Your Meme's complete research about the subject. Enjoy.
2. Classic Viral: Why Must I Cry
Rehdogg's internet classic is perhaps one of my favorite viral classics of all time. Subject of dozens of remixes, "Why Must I Cry" is a success not only for its singer's lack of talent it just is a classic example of a melodrama.
3. Snakes On a Plane Censorship
Remember that internet phenomena Snakes on A Plane? It took the world by storm in 2006 and became one of the first films to develop an internet following before its actual release. However while the initial release for the film was less then satisfactory, Snakes on a Plane has garnered a rather large Internet following its release on the FX station several years ago. This television edition was released with perhaps the most rediculous censorship job of all time, and has sense become a Youtube phenomena.

Samuel L. Jackson Talks Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson has long been an icon in nerd popular culture. Afro Samurai, Pulp Fiction, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Afro Samurai, and now Iron Man, Jackson's blockbuster filmography is one of the most impressive in modern day cinema. His newest role as the Marvel hero Nick Fury, head of the mysterious organization S.H.I.E.L.D., has attracted a lot of press. Whether you like Jackson's performance in the two Iron Man films or not, Fury is here to stay. Marvel has signed on the character for several more films including the upcoming Captain America and Avengers adaptations. Jackson revealed today to Radio Big Boy, that filming for the later would begin sometime next year. He also confirmed that there are talks of creating a film focusing on S.H.I.E.L.D. and Nick Fury. However, without an official announcement from Marvel or Paramount, we cannot judge the validity of Jackson's statements.
