It has been known for over a year now that the final Harry Potter book would be separated into two individual films. However, what has bothered fans for months is where exactly this split would take place in the context of the story?

Entertainment Weekly revealed today that the split would take place late into the book: "“Part I will end at about Chapter 24 of the book, with Voldemort gaining possession of the Elder Wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows that allow the bearer to conquer death.”

This comes as a shock to many fans, who expected the split to happen earlier in the course of the plot. This means that the majority of the final film will be dedicated to the Battle of Hogwarts and the resolution of the series.
