The latest rumor buzzing around the upcoming Spider-man reboot starring Andrew Garfield has many fans excited.

According to The Playlist, Academy Award winning actor Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) has auditoned for the role of Curt Connors, aka the Lizard. If true this would make many fans happy. Not only would we have a proven actor in a major role in the already controversial reboot, but we would see a long anticipated villain grace the screen. However, as Bleeding Cool has been quick to point out there are parts of this rumor that just don't seem to add up. The Playlist's primary source for this information was Production Weekly, a magazine that mostly focuses on providing job oppurtunities for industry professionals. Such an announcement would be strange information for them to obtain thus making this incident seem questionable. Also, there were already rumors that Waltz's Basterd co-star Michael Fassbender was up for the same role. While we now know that Fassbender turned down his role in the production in favor of playing Magneto in the upcoming X-men: First Class, it seems strange that Spider-man director Marc Webb would approach to actors from the same film for the same role.

We'll be sure to keep you posted as this story develops.
