Shortly after Neill Blompkamp's fantastic science fiction film, District 9, rumors have been flying regarding a sequel to the highly successful movie. Blompkamp has expressed interest in returning for a sequel, or prequel set years before the original film. However, the young director announced last fall that he would be working on another science fiction film unrelated to his first. Hype and news began to simmer down, and many assumed that it would be a while until we returned to the alien infested streets of Johannesburg.
However, the film blog Marketsaw claims that in recent talks with WETA digital, the title District 10 was mentioned. The project supposedly is scheduled to start shooting in South Africa this fall, and the creative team from the first film will be attached. This at the moment remains as little more then a rumor, but we will keep our eyes peeled for new details about this highly anticipated project.
