Although not one of the better known members of the famous comic book team, Hawkeye is certainly become a fan favorite over the years. Whether Clint Barton is shooting arrows or doubling as the mysterious Ronin, he has always played a major role in the Avengers team. It is little surprise that with the Avengers movie looming ever closer on the horizon that casting teams would begin searching for a man to play the quick footed hero.

Rumors began last year that Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner would be playing the role, but there has been little to found these on until today. According to Heat Vision, Renner will indeed be playing the role for Clint Barton in the 2012 blockbuster. Also of note, the article mentions that the budget for the expensive Joss Whedon superhero epic is being kept under wraps, and that the actors may have to take salary cuts in order to finance such an ambitious project.

On a related note, Lost star Josh Holloway was recently approached for a role in the Avengers movie. Little is known about what role he will play, but rumor has it that popular actor may play the role of Hank Pym, aka. Ant Man.
